Short Bio

Renee Pitts is a versatile artist working in the mediums of oil, watercolor, mixed media and art quilting. As an art educator and lifelong student of the arts she has immersed herself in the pursuit with the hope that her work can inspire life and hope in the extraordinary of everyday life.

Statement

As an artist I seek to capture through my  art the essence and impressions of the beautiful places and moments of everyday life. It is my intent that my artwork  reflects the message of hope and beauty to those who view my artwork and who collect it for their homes and businesses. As a Plein air artist I invite the viewer to experience for themselves the perspective and emotion a scene evokes allowing them the wonder of that particular place in time.

Biography

Renee Pitts is a versatile artist who grew up in East Tennessee. From Appalachia's influences... the lines of the landscape, the colors of the seasons, the patterns and designs from a grandmother's quilted fabric and thread stories... from the creativity of a mother's imagination and encouragement, a hunger for art's expression and its disciplines began Renee's art journey. This desire to learn and grow as artist led to a formal education with a Master's in art from ETSU. As an art educator and lifelong student herself  she has immersed herself in the pursuit of becoming an artist and sharing that pursuit with those who take her classes and workshops. She enjoys capturing the impression of a scene by pushing the abstract through color, texture, composition, line and value.  It is her hope that the viewer is pulled into the moment and the impression becomes a personal study. Renee is a versatile artist who enjoys the mediums of watercolor, oils, mixed media, art quilting and art journaling. She enjoys teaching workshops and classes to those interested in enriching their lives through the creation of art. Renee's exhibits her work in local and regional art shows and has won numerous awards.
